ACIS Professional

ACIS for Research
Administer a Normed Battery to Your Participants

A free Professional account, three Quick administrations included, pay as you go at consumer prices, private participant links, no participant PII, and verified scores you can export. Here is how the workspace works and what the instrument can and cannot support.

1What ACIS Professional gives a research team

ACIS Professional lets you administer the same 20 subtest, six domain cognitive battery that ACIS runs for individual examinees, but to participants you invite. You create administrations from a workspace, share private links, decide whether each participant can see their own results, and read verified scores and composites in one place. The examinee never needs an account, a payment, or an email address on file. Budgeting the instrument is easier once the alternatives are priced side by side, and the published figures across cognitive testing platforms are quoted per administration, per seat or per study rather than on one comparable basis.

  • Free Professional account. Registration asks for a verified email and a password. Nothing else.
  • Three Quick administrations included. Every account starts with three Quick administrations at no cost, so you can pilot the instrument with real participants before spending anything. They are used automatically before any credit is charged.
  • Pay as you go at consumer prices. One credit equals one US dollar. A Quick administration costs 15 credits, Optimized 30, Full Scale 50, and a custom battery 5 per subtest. Credits never expire and there is no subscription requirement. Monthly plans exist for recurring volume and stay optional.
  • Verified scores and exports. Scaled scores, index scores and Full Scale IQ are computed on the server, not in the participant's browser, and the workspace exports a ZIP with cohort_summary.csv, scores_long.csv and codebook.csv.

2How an administration works

The workflow is built so that your participants stay outside ACIS as people and inside it only as pseudonymous codes.

  • Create. Choose the assessment mix for a batch, an access window between 1 and 90 days, and whether participants may view their own results. Assign your own participant codes or let the workspace generate them.
  • Share. Each administration returns a private participation link once. ACIS stores only a hash of that link, never the link itself, so keep the CSV of links the workspace offers at creation.
  • Administer. The participant opens the link on their own device and completes the battery at their own pace within the window. The link is tied to that device and browser, which is how ACIS keeps one administration equal to one examinee.
  • Read and export. Completed administrations appear with verified scores, domain composites and Full Scale IQ. Results and exports never include participant names, email addresses, item content, responses or answer keys.

Credits are charged when the links are created, not when the participant starts. An administration that is never opened can be revoked, and a revoked courtesy administration returns to your allowance.

3What the instrument measures

ACIS is organized around the Cattell Horn Carroll model. The Full Scale form administers 20 subtests across six domains: verbal comprehension, fluid reasoning, quantitative reasoning, visual spatial ability, working memory and processing speed. Optimized covers 13 subtests across five domains and Quick covers six subtests across the core verbal, fluid reasoning and working memory indicators. Scaled scores use a mean of 10 and a standard deviation of 3, and composites use a mean of 100 and a standard deviation of 15.

Results are interpreted within an adult reference frame covering ages 16 to 90. The technical manual documents the norming approach, reliability, factor structure and known limits, and the CHC model page explains the domain structure in plain language. For how the battery compares with clinical instruments, see professional versus online IQ testing.

4Boundaries you should know before designing a study

ACIS is a self administered online cognitive assessment. It is not a clinical instrument, it is not proctored, and it does not replace an individually administered evaluation by a licensed professional. It is suited to research, screening and educational contexts where an unsupervised, normed, multi domain measure is appropriate. It is not intended for clinical diagnosis, hiring decisions, accommodation determinations or admission to high IQ societies. The free alternative most study designs consider sets a different boundary, since the ICAR public domain item pool has no published norms, which supports comparisons within a sample but not placement of a participant on a population scale.

Unsupervised administration has known consequences that a study design should anticipate. Working memory subtests with auditory presentation depend on the participant's sound working and on their following instructions not to write. Timed subtests depend on the device and input method, which the workspace records for each administration so you can control for them. The page on what makes an IQ score accurate covers the reliability, validity and norming questions that apply to any instrument, including this one.

5Privacy and data handling

  • Participants are identified only by the code you assign or the workspace generates. ACIS does not ask them for a name or an email address.
  • Participation links are stored hashed. A lost link cannot be recovered, only replaced by a new administration.
  • Exports contain scores and metadata only. Item content, item responses and scoring keys are never exported.
  • Your workspace history, results and pay as you go credits persist if you cancel a monthly plan.

6Getting started

  • Create the account. Open ACIS Professional, enter your email, confirm the verification code and choose a password.
  • Pilot with the included administrations. Create up to three Quick administrations at no cost, send the links to pilot participants, and read the results in the workspace.
  • Scale when the design is settled. Buy exactly the credits the study needs, or pick a monthly plan if the volume repeats. Institutions that need an invoice or a purchase order can write to support@acisiq.com.
